Cookie Policy

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small files stored on your device by your browser. We also use closely related technologies such as localStorage, and this policy covers those too.

2. Your choice

Everything except strictly necessary cookies is denied by default. Nothing in the analytics or marketing categories is set until you accept it. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time — it is exactly as easy to reject as it is to accept.

Your choice is stored for 12 months, after which we ask again. If we materially change how we use cookies, we reset the record and ask again sooner.

3. Categories we use

Strictly necessary (always active)

Sign-in sessions, the shopping cart, checkout, and security protections such as rate limiting. The site cannot work without these, so they are not subject to consent.

Analytics (consent required)

Analytics tools such as Google Analytics, which let us see which pages are useful and where the experience breaks. If you decline, Google Consent Mode keeps analytics_storage denied, so nothing in this category can store or read anything on your device.

Marketing and advertising (consent required)

Affiliate link attribution through Skimlinks, and advertising measurement. This one toggle governs three Google Consent Mode signals — ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization. If you decline, the Skimlinks script is never loaded at all.

4. Global Privacy Control and US state opt-outs

If your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out and apply it automatically on your first visit — no banner, no extra click. Analytics and marketing stay off, and we record that the decision came from GPC.

You can still opt back in afterwards through “Cookie settings” in the footer; a GPC signal sets the default, it does not lock you out of choosing.

Separately, the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the footer opts you out of the marketing category, which covers affiliate attribution and advertising measurement — the only processing here that could constitute a sale or sharing under CCPA/CPRA.

5. Third parties

Clicking an affiliate link takes you to a retailer such as Amazon, which may set its own cookies under its own policy. That is outside our control and is not covered by your choice here.

PayPal sets cookies necessary to process payments when you check out.

6. Record of consent

When you make a choice we record it — the categories you selected, the time, and the IP address and browser the request came from — so we can demonstrate that consent was obtained. We keep this record as evidence of compliance; it is not used to build a profile or to target you.

7. Browser controls

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and checkout.
